Insurance Policy of the CTSASA

  1. The CTSASA has a 3rd Party Public Liability insurance policy which extends to member to member cover.
  2. The limit of indemnity is R10,000,000 (ten million Rands).
  3. The policy covers all fully paid up CTSASA Members.
  4. CTSASA Members are indemnified against accidental injury and/or damage to 3rd parties and fellow CTSASA members when taking part in any CTSASA event at any CTSASA registered club.
  5. CTSASA Members are indemnified against accidental injury and/or damage to 3rd parties and fellow CTSASA members when taking part in any club competition or practice event at any CTSASA registered club.
  6. CTSASA Members are indemnified against accidental injury and/or damage to 3rd parties and fellow CTSASA members when taking part in any clay target event at any venue in South Africa as sanctioned by the CTSASA.
  7. CTSASA Members are indemnified against accidental injury and/or damage to 3rd parties and fellow CTSASA members when taking part in any clay target competition anywhere else in the world that forms part of any organised Clay shooting events that are run by and are under control of official organizations, except in the USA and Canada or where the USA/Canadian laws applicable to liability extend to other territories (see ‘Operative Clause’ in ‘Stand Alone Wording’ document). This means that any CTSASA member travelling to the USA or Canada (or territories under the control of the USA or Canada) must take out appropriate travel and liability insurance.
  8. All overseas visitors are indemnified against accidental injury and/or damage to 3rd parties and fellow CTSASA members when taking part in any CTSASA championship. The jurisdiction of liability remains in the Republic of South Africa.  In other words if an American visitor injures another American we do not provide member to member cover under the jurisdiction of the USA, we stay under the jurisdiction of RSA.
  9. The indemnity covered is listed in the ‘Stand Alone Wording’ document
  10. Exclusions are covered in Section A, Section B, Section C and ‘General Exclusions’ in the ‘Stand Alone Wording’ document
  11. Employees, coaches, officials and casual labour at CTSASA clubs/events are covered under this policy.  If these persons are representing the association in any of its activities then it is the Association that will be liable for any accidental injury and/or damage to 3rd parties and fellow CTSASA members as covered by the policy and therefore the policy will respond to indemnify the Association for any acts incurred by such persons.
  12. This insurance cover extends to member to member, which means that members are indemnified if they injure other members.
  13. This policy does not cover non-CTSASA members. The policy does not cover individual club members who are not members of the CTSASA.  This means that if a non-CTSASA member injures a CTSASA member (or another non-CTSASA member), the policy will not respond and will not provide cover.
  14. The policy will remain valid provided that the following is complied with:
    1. All CTSASA clubs and CTSASA authorised venues must comply with all the relevant laws relating to shooting ranges (including SANS 10353 and the Firearms Control Act).
    2. All CTSASA clubs and CTSASA authorised venues must comply with all safety regulations as published by the CTSASA, including all the individual clay target discipline rule books.
    3. All CTSASA clubs and CTSASA authorised venues must assign a responsible person (i.e. a Range Officer) for all events held at the club/venue.
